Anthony K. Williams of Harrisburg was arrested at 8 a.m. on Monday for the murder of Daniel "Dan Lau" Maldonado, 33, also of Harrisburg, city police detailed in a release that evening.

Dan was found by police responding to a report of "shots fired" in the 400 block of Crescent Street around 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 27, as stated in the initial police release.

Arriving officers found him "suffering from gunshot wounds," so he was taken to UPMC Harrisburg Hospital, where the Dauphin County Coroner declared him deceased at 2:44 a.m. that same morning.

His official cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner was ruled homicide, the coroner explained on Jan. 29.

Williams has been charged with felony murder, felony firearms not to be carried without a license, and a misdemeanor for a person not to possess a firearm, court records show. He remains in the Dauphin County Prison after being denied bail due to state law on murder/homicide charges. His preliminary hearing is set before the same judge who presided over his preliminary arraignment, Magisterial District Judge Paul T. Zozos. It will be held at 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 13, as detailed in his latest court.

He has a record for two misdemeanors: marijuana possession in 2020 and criminal mischief - property damage in 2021. He pleaded guilty in both cases receiving time served and 90 days probation, respectively, according to his previous court dockets.

Dan also had a criminal record, involving drug charges and fleeing from police. He served prison time and has had no further offenses since 2016, court records show. One of the judges on the four cases, between 2009 and 2016, was Judge Zozos, the same Zozos who has been presiding over the preliminary part of the case on Williams' murder charge for Dan's fatal shooting.

Harrisburg detectives continue to investigate. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact the police at 717-558-6900 or by clicking here.
